This Privacy Policy explains how Sharon Albert (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit sharonalbert.com (the “Site”), place an order, commission a piece, or contact us. We are committed to protecting your privacy and to handling your personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Information we collect
- Order and commission details — your name, billing and delivery address, email address and telephone number when you place an order or commission a piece.
- Payment information — card payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Enquiries — the name, email address and any information you provide when you use our contact form or email us.
- Technical and usage data — your IP address, browser type and how you use the Site, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.
How we use your information
- To process and fulfil your orders and commissions, arrange your bespoke piece, and deliver it to you;
- To communicate with you about your order, commission or enquiry;
- To take payment and keep accurate financial and tax records;
- To respond to your questions and provide customer care;
- To keep the Site secure and to improve it;
- To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations.
Legal bases for processing
We process your personal data where it is necessary to perform our contract with you (fulfilling your order or commission), where we have a legitimate interest (running and improving our business and keeping the Site secure), where you have given your consent, and where we are required to by law (for example, keeping accounting records).
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only where necessary with:
- Stripe, our payment processor, to take your payment;
- Delivery and courier services, to ship your piece to you;
- Our hosting and IT provider (Thinking Fish), who maintain the Site on our behalf;
- Professional advisors such as our accountant, where required;
- Authorities or regulators, where we are legally obliged to do so.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK or European Economic Area; where they do, appropriate safeguards are in place.
Cookies
The Site uses cookies that are essential for it to function — for example, to remember the items in your basket, to process checkout, and to keep the Site secure. We may also use cookies to understand how the Site is used. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work properly without the essential ones.
How long we keep your data
We keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil your order and provide our services, and thereafter for as long as we are required to for legal, accounting and tax purposes (generally six years).
Your rights
Under data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to our processing, to data portability, and to withdraw any consent you have given. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details below. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Payments are encrypted and handled by Stripe.
Children
The Site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
